1. Manufacturing Execution System (MES)
The MES is the cornerstone of Momentum and forms the layer between ERP and SCADA/PLC. It manages, plans, synchronises and monitors the real-time execution of physical production processes, connecting business software, machines, operators and resources on the shopfloor – from raw material to finished product.
Integrated technologies within MES
- Execution – plans, monitors and synchronises production orders in real time and links them to enterprise software, machines and resources.
- Knowledge (people & work instructions) – centralises information on products, processes, procedures and work instructions, and assigns knowledge and authorisations per operator. No more paper sheets or scattered files.
- Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) – calculates OEE automatically, lets operators apply manual corrections and fill in missing data, shows real-time OEE results and uses them as an operational steering instrument.
- Labeling management – automatically sends the right data for dynamic inline label printing and manages complex product labels, EAN and SSCC codes, with out-of-the-box integration with Nicelabel and Bartender.
- Track & Trace – transparent follow-up of every production lot from start to finish.
- Historian & reporting – combines multiple data sources into a single history of real-time operational production metrics in an open information model, with configurable reports and dashboards on a (mobile) operator page.
Result: less downtime, faster root cause analysis, full track & trace and one central source of truth for the entire production floor.
2. Warehouse Management System (WMS)
The WMS optimises logistics operations – standalone or fully integrated with production – and manages the end-to-end flow of goods: from receipt to outbound shipment.
Core functionality
- Unified logistics operations – validates and registers incoming goods, optimises storage allocation and warehouse utilisation, and prepares outbound shipments.
- Inbound cargo registration & dock control – registration and dock scheduling of incoming deliveries.
- Advanced storage strategies – storage strategies such as ABC classification and reshuffling for optimal use of space.
- Real-time inventory – records material consumption, traces its origin, and shows detailed stock overviews (available, reserved, blocked) through dashboards and graphical warehouse views.
- Outbound planning & shipment – plans dispatches and prepares shipments, with full track & trace from reception to shipment.
- Integration with production & logistics – every movement is logged and traceable, directly linked to production orders and logistics flows.
Result: higher efficiency, less waste, better use of space and real-time stock visibility – with no silos between warehouse and production.
3. Warehouse Execution System (WES)
The WES orchestrates and optimises real-time execution on the warehouse floor by controlling automated transport equipment: conveyors, sorting systems, AS/RS (Automated Storage & Retrieval Systems) and AMRs (Autonomous Mobile Robots), with dynamic task and route determination.
Core functionality
- Logistics flow – configures logistics flows and movements on the production floor, links logistics movements to the production process and the product structure, and pulls or pushes production from the supply chain with lifecycle information per production lot.
- Task based execution – generates warehouse tasks for both operators and automated systems, sends instructions, sets triggers for logistics movements and follows up on the execution and status of work in progress.
- Warehouse execution – orchestrates and optimises real-time execution by automatically controlling material handling equipment (MHE) and dynamically prioritising and routing tasks.
- Built-in WMS–WES integration – seamless connectivity with standardised real-time data exchange, for smooth integration with a wide range of conveyor, sorter, AGV and AMR suppliers.
Result: automated control of warehouse automation without separate WCS integration projects per supplier, with full visibility of tasks and progress.
